  • Jim Cyb - VP of Sales - Zendesk
Everything that Zendesk does is focused around customer experience. We needed somebody to kick off our event, to talk about being genuine, about challenging the status quo, and about embracing teamwork. Rick did an absolutely amazing job engaging the audience right away, getting them participating, and provided a fantastic keynote, bringing everything back to our meeting objectives. He got the crowd completely fired up and ready to kick-off our new year initiatives. Thanks Rick!

  • Susie Garcia - Executive Assistant & Meeting Planner - HD Supply
We had Rick keynote at our 2015 national sales conference and it was unbelievable. The beginning was amazing, just watching him work the room and then when he got on stage everybody loved him. We have 650 sales people from all across the country and Rick’s presentation got everyone involved, out of their box and feeling like anything is possible. We really appreciated his performance. It was awesome.

  • Whitney Stark - Conference Services Manager - Royal Palms Resort Scottsdale Arizona
The interactive element of Rick’s presentation is its strongpoint. I see so many speakers get on stage without developing that crucial relationship with the audience. I like that Rick's presentation was hands-on for our client and the guests were able to experience him as the waiter before considering the educational components. Plus the servers had the best time with it. It was a treat for them to be involved with the fun.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & HOLD REQUEST FORM

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Do We Keep Rick's Presentation a Secret?

First, swear the planning team to secrecy! The fewer people who know what's going to happen at the event the better the impact will be. If you need it, we can provide you with advance promotional copy that will help you heighten your guest's interest of your surprise speaker without giving away the secret.

Is Rick's Presentation Customizable?

Rick customizes his presentation to every event. Once you decide that Rick is a fit for your event, we'll schedule a call between your planning team, organization executives, and Rick. He'll ask you some questions and want to hear about your meeting objectives, current challenges, and desired outcomes for the event. Rick will design a presentation specifically tailored to get your audience where you want them to go.

How Do We Coordinate Rick's Presentation With the Venue Staff?

We take care of coordinating Rick's waiter routine with the catering contact of your event. We'll arrange to make sure that Rick matches the attire of the other servers to blend in, and properly prepare all staff involved to play along successfully with the ruse. We've done it hundreds of times before and find that meeting venues all over North America have a great time supporting the theater and are more than willing to cooperate in facilitating your meeting objectives.

Does Anyone Ever Get Upset With the Annoying Waiter?

Yes — by design! The point of the bad waiter act is to upset the unconscious patterns that bind your guests to unwanted limitations. Rick has pushed the buttons of literally thousands of guests and knows just how to walk the line, bringing your audience to an awareness of their old habits and using the slight discomfort it causes to transform that creative tension into tremendous insight. The ah-hah moments reveal the possibility of new and optimal responses to old challenges. Once Rick reveals his true identity, any lingering doubts, frustration or annoyance melts into laughter, positive reflection and enjoyment.

How Big Does Our Audience Have to Be for This to Work?

Audiences as small as a dozen up to several thousand are all workable for this routine. With smaller audiences Rick builds his inept server character much more subtly, unfolding the perception of his odd and eccentric service slowly and incrementally so that it's completely believable in the context of the small group. For larger audiences Rick's bumbling and awkward manner is broader and more magnified as this is needed to draw the crowd's attention in the midst of all the hubbub of a large function. Rick has played every size of audience many times before and knows just how to adjust the pitch of his awkward behavior so that it suits the size of the group.

What Are Rick's Production Requirements?

Rick's presentation is easy on your production team. Wireless mic, pc audio input, a projector and screen. No special lighting is needed and Rick can work with most any form of existing stage area.

What Are Rick's Travel and Expense Requirements?

Coach airfare, ground transportation, accommodation, and in-transit meals.
